Edgewebhosting.net, a Baltimore, MD based leading provider of high capacity managed Internet hosting services, has an opening for a number of Hosting Tech Support Engineers with at least 1 year of experience in server related technologies. We are seeking intelligent, highly motivated individuals that enjoy assisting clients and have a passion for troubleshooting, learning, sharing knowledge.

A training period of approximately 30 to 60 days is required during which time the candidate must be able to work 9am to 6pm, Monday through Friday. Upon completion of training, this job requires a rotating shift schedule which includes:
Evenings: 1:00PM to 11:00PM
Nights: 11:00PM to 9:00AM
Weekends: 10:00AM to 10:00PM (1st Shift)
10:00PM to 10:00AM (2nd Shift)
This rotating 160 hour per month schedule provides for one full week off and one full week on approximately every 5 weeks. This rotation provides 8 weeks of paid vacation per year.
Requirements:
· Minimum 1 year Windows or Linux Server administration
· Fundamental understanding of TCP/IP
· Understanding of DNS, and DNS Servers
· Proficiency in the use of MS Office Suite
· Knowledge of basic Internet protocols and services such as TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, POP3, FTP, TELNET, PING, SSH, and HTTP/HTTPS;
· Basic knowledge of Apache, IIS required
· Basic knowledge of and/or the desire to learn web application servers and platforms such as ASP, .NET, ColdFusion, PHP, Perl, HTML
· Ability effectively communication technical information to both technical and non-technical people.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
· Responsibilities include:
- Prompt attendance and punctuality
- Ability to learn quickly and effectively
- Monitor nightly backups
- Managing, monitoring, and administration of servers
- Monitoring and responding to system and network alarms and alerts
- Provide Level 1 assistance to customers and staff via phone, chat, and email
- Escalation of critical issues to on call support staff
- Installation of servers
- Maintaining accurate customer records
- Perform other duties as assigned
Experience with some of these technologies is a very helpful, but not strictly required. This position requires a combination of customer support and systems administration. We will provide training to the right candidate in order to fulfill all technical aspects required of the position.
