Description:

Edgewebhosting.net, based in Baltimore, MD, is a leading provider of high capacity managed hosting services and is looking to expand our customer support team. Edgewebhosting.net has a number of openings for Customer Support Engineers with at least 2-3 years of experience in server related technologies. We are seeking intelligent, highly motivated individuals that enjoy assisting clients and have a passion for troubleshooting, learning, and sharing knowledge.

Duties:

  • Prompt attendance, punctuality and professionalism.
  • Respond to internal and external customer request via phone, chat and email.
  • Responsible for installation, monitoring and administration of complex Windows and Linux installations.
  • Maintain accurate customer records, and professional written and verbal communication.
  • Monitor nightly backups, and scheduled server maintenance.
  • Monitor and respond to systems and networking alarms and alerts.
  • Escalate critical issues to on call support staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years Windows and/or Unix/Linux server administration.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, and general desktop support.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information to a wide range of audiences.
  • Basic knowledge of Apache, IIS and experience or desire to learn application servers, such as HTML, ASP, Microsoft .Net, ColdFusion, JavaScript, PHP, and Perl.
  • Fundamental understanding of TCP/IP, DNS and how their application.
  • Basic knowledge of Internet protocols and services including: TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, POP3, FTP, telnet, ping, SSH, and http/https.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.

Additional Information:

Experience with the technologies detailed above is preferred, but not strictly required. This position requires a combination of customer support and systems administration skills.

All selected candidates will receive a training period of approximately 30 days during which time; candidates will be working Monday through Friday 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM. Upon completion of training candidates will be receive a set schedule based on business need and candidate preference. EdgeWebHosting is a 24/7/365 operation, and thus weekends and nights may be required.
